• Master Association September meeting action items
The Master Association September action items were ratified during the October meeting. The following are the results of those action items:
- Decided that Scott Melrose should be given the opportunity to assess the type & condition of the trees originally planted in Straus Park before giving his report on why certain trees were planted.
- Administrative Resolution Number A-09.15.05 was passed unanimously thanking Rae Glover for her 4 years as Recording Secretary of the Master Association Board.
- Decided that the study made for the Long Range Planning Committee by an engineer was incomplete; that Scott McCall will request an upgraded & more complete report from the engineer.
- Decided that Glen Cutler will contact the Environmental Studies Department at the college to see if students would be interested in assessing the health of the lake so that an informed decision can be made as to aeration of the lake.
- Payment of invoice from Cathey’s Creek Electric for work performed was approved.
- During discussion of formation of new committees for next year, Harry Fiedler was requested to add a volunteer form to the official Straus Park website, strauspark.org.
• Pot Luck Dinner - Sunday, November 13th - 6:00PM
The November Pot Luck Group dinner will be hosted by Sue & Norm Macoy, Nina Shippen, & Paula & Tory Elliot at the Lake House on Sunday, November 13th, at 6:00PM. This month’s entrée will be beef stroganoff. Attendees are requested to bring a vegetable, salad, dessert, or hors d’oeuvre. If you would like an adult beverage, please BYOB. Soft drinks & coffee will be provided. Please RSVP to Sue (877-5995) or to Nina (883-5628) No Later Than Tuesday, Nov. 8th.
• Couples Bridge – Friday, November 18th - 7:00PM
Don & Phyllis Gillette will host Couples Bridge at the Lake House on Friday, November 18th, at 7:00PM. To sign up, call Phyllis at 883-4653.
• Women’s Book Club - Monday, November 21st - 1:00PM
This month’s discussion will be led by Phyllis Gillette at the Lake House on Monday, November 21st, at 1:00PM. The book, “These Granite Islands” by Sarah Stonich, is available at Highland Books at a 10% discount to book club members. This will be the last meeting until January.
• Update to Straus Park's Official Web Site
- The Activities page is being updated & now includes some pictures from recent events.
- Volunteer form is still available in “Forms/Polling” to sign up for various committees for 2006. The Master Association needs your help in this area.
• Market Street Update
The foundation for Poppies was poured on Friday, October 21st & construction is progressing.
