30 July 08 - Transylvania Community Hospital Foundation Benefit

The Translyvania Community Hospital Foundation held a reception for Straus Park residents at the Lake House on July 30. At the invitation of the Cranes, Kellings and Maxwells, they provided an update of the medical services now available to residents with particular emphasis on the two new wings ( accute care and support).
Don Crane had approached the Master board about the sections of the Hospital that have been given by Lake Toxaway, Connestee Falls, Burlingame and others. These communities had each taken a piece of the new wing and pulled together to donate it to the Hospital in the name of their community. Don felt that although Straus Park is smaller than these developments there should still be a part of the Hospital that carries the Straus Park name.
At the reception Straus Park residents were challenged collectively to give the new entrance portico to the Hospital. This is a dramatic piece of cantilevered architecture that communicates to all who enter the forward thinking attitude and sense of confidence about the caliber of medical care that is offered. The price tag to name this portico was $200,000.
We can now celebrate our stake in the one institution in the County that touches everyone's lives because we have reached our goal! Now, it would be wonderful if we could have every Sraus Park resident participate in this worthy cause. Even a token donation would be acceptable. If we could have 100% of our residents involved it would significantly enhance our image in the Brevard community. PLease call Don Ccrane (862-5667) if you need a pledge card.
